Fired by a desire to light the lamp of education Mr. John M. Thomas, the founder and President, started the school in the year 1979. From the humble beginning of 200 children and 35 teachers, GIHS has grown to become one of the Best Educational Institutions in the Gulf under the guidance and support of the Ministry of Education & the Government of Dubai. |

At present, the school has the strength of 2,000 students from diverse backgrounds, which is built in a sprawling campus of about 35,000 sq. ft. in Garhoud area. And is large enough to provide all the facilities every student requires. At GIHS, we tried to create an amiable environment where students can excel individually as well as be a part of a team. We emphasize on small classes, teaching through close personal contacts and offer ample opportunities for interaction between teachers and students. In such a way we are able to offer students continuing guidance and support to help them identify and best develop their skills and capabilities. |

Library and Laboratory |

Our modern computer Laboratory gives access to the state-of-the-art technology. Computer Science has been introduced as a regular part of the syllabus from class IV onwards.
The school has well-equipped laboratories to promote independent learning through doing for various Science subjects - Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Home-Science, Computer Science and Physical education.
More than 30,000 books of various subjects cater to the interest of the students, in the library. The book section of the library consists of highly
specialized books covering all the areas. It also holds an excellent selection
of periodicals, children's story books, comics, magazines & newspapers. |

Apart from these, there is TV / Video room & Games room for juniors. |

Sports |
|
Sports form an integral part of the school routine and the students are expected to participate in it regularly. Periods are allocated for PT and games. The school playground is well equipped for various games like football, basketball, badminton, volleyball & cricket. Special's' coaching in all these games is available after school hours. The school team in various games plays inter-school and Zonal matches. The volleyball team comprising of both boys and girls has been recognized as 'the best' team in the U.A.E.

Extra Curricular Activities |

Work experience is given due recognition in all classes. Dance, Music, Art, Sewing, Painting, Drawing and Handicrafts are provided to afford maximum opportunities to the students to acquire useful skills. Debate, Fancy Dress, Quiz's & other cultural activities are conducted during school hours. |
